RECOPE plans to build modern data center campus in El Alto
The Costa Rican Oil Refinery (RECOPE SA) plans to build a data center on the campus of El Alto de Ochomogo, with the latest technology and under strict international standards, which will be used as an alternative central data processing company, and will ensure the operations of the Sales and Distribution Management (GDV), while serving as an implementer and promoter of technology for process automation projects.
Before designing the project a needs assessment was carried out and then a company hired to design the new data center in conjunction with a multidisciplinary group of professionals from the administration.
In the coming weeks a tender will be issued for the construction works, for approximately $900 million colones, the construction and supply of technology will take approximately eight months.

Recope bought 22 hectares of land in Guanacaste for building a new fuel terminal.
Costa Rica's state-owned oil refinery (Recope) will build a new fuel terminal in the province of Guanacaste, close to Liberia's Airport. It will be named 'Terminal Chorotega'.
"The terminal includes 2 diesel tanks for 25.000 barrels of diesel, 4 gasoline tanks for 25.000 barrels, 3 jet fuel tanks of 40.000 barrels and 2 tanks for 5.000 barrels of ethanol", reported Thecostaricanews.com.

Australians have begun the process of developing the basic engineering for RECOPE and the CNPC’s new refinery, designed to process 60,000 barrels per day.
A statement from RECOPE reads :
The Australian firm Warley Parsons last week assumed the basic engineering for the project to build a new refinery with capacity to process 60,000 barrels a day, to be carried out in conjunction with the company SORESCO, formed by the Costa Rican Oil Refinery (RECOPE) and the Chinese government company CNPC International.

Recope, in alliance with a Chinese oil company, will create a new private company that will modernize and expand the Moin refinery in Limon.
Nacion.com reports: "In this case, the document - dated October 28, 2008 - authorizes the Costa Rican Petroleum Refinery (Recope) to negotiate and sign an agreement to create "a joint company" with the China National Petroleum Corporation International LTD, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation.

Recope, Costa Rica’ state-owned oil refinery, is studying a potential extension of its oil pipeline between La Garita, in Alajuela and Barranca, in Puntarenas.
The existing pipeline, which links the two distribution, storage and sales centers, has a diameter of 6 inches. The new project comprises building an additional underground pipeline, with a diameter of 12 inches.
