Samtec Invests $2 Million in Panama

The company will open a facility to manufacture electric components in Panama Pacífico, in Howard.

José Manuel Sánchez, manager of the company’s Costa Rican office, stated they expect the plant to be operational in September, employing 150 people.

“We chose Panama for several factors, among them its geographic location and competitive labor costs”, added Sánchez.

Costa Rica To Promote Tech Services

The Exports Promotion Agency will promote integral technology services from Costa Rica in the United States.

The first step in this initiative is the creation of a consortium of technology companies called IT Innovation Group.

"U.S. companies requiring advice and support in software development, project management, quality control and internet marketing will be able to purchase all or some of these services through a single provider", reported Nacion.com.

Guatemala Inaugurates Technology Campus

This project will bring together several IT companies based in Guatemala.

It is located in the capital city and will feature three 7-storey buildings. The first of these will house 18 information technology companies.

“The complex will also house offices from the software and telecom departments of the country’s universities and colleges affiliated to the Guatemalan Exporters’ Association (AGEXPORT)”, reported Globedia.

Honduras: $10 Million Taiwanese Investments

With $10 million worth of initial capital, a company will be set up to manufacture sports equipment.

A Taiwanese backed international sporting equipment company will begin operations in Honduras in the coming days with an initial investment of $10 million and creating 200 direct jobs, according to Romeo Silvestri, head of the Committee for Special Development Regions of the country's congress.
