Support plan for small business launched in Nicaragua

The program was launch by the Association of Producer and Exporters (Apen), the organism which won the international contest by the EU for the internationalization of Small Businesses and for which they will received $1.5 million in financing.

Enrique Zamora, president of Apen, explained that they participated in the contest along with financial development company from Mexico and all the chambers from Central America.

The total amount for the region is $14 million for the benefit of 2,180 small and medium companies in the area. 200 of these are from Nicaragua, which will be administered locally by Apen.

He added that the small business sectors in Nicaragua that will benefit from the program: food, arts and craft, decoration and gifts, tourism, information technology, the environment, energy, and sustainable, in addition to services and infrastructure.

EXPO-APEN Generates $25 million in Business Deals

In the two days of meetings representatives from 247 companies negotiated sales of $25 million, surpassing previous figures.

The product which made the most sales was coffee at 55%, followed by fruits and vegetables with 22%, said Azucena Castillo, general manager of the Association of Producers and Exporters of Nicaragua (APEN).

Expo Apen 2011 will take place on 23rd and 24th of September at the Crowne Plaza Convention Center in the capital.

The Association of Producers and Exporters of Nicaragua, Apen, organizer of the event, expects the event to be attended for first time by buyers from Poland, Belize and the United Kingdom.

Venezuela to Purchase Nicaraguan Beans

A delegation from the Venezuelan government will negotiate the purchase of 20,000 metric tons of black beans.

The president of the Nicaraguan Association of Producers and Exporters, Enrique Zamora, highlighted the benefit to producers that are organized in cooperatives.
