El Salvador Aims at $30 Million in Deals at World Fairs

Some 145 Salvadoran companies will participate this year in international fairs, particularly those related to the food and beverage sector.

Some 145 firms, mostly medium and small sized, will participate in trade fairs in Germany, Colombia, Taiwan and Panama, among other countries, and it is expected that deals will be made worth around $30 million.

"By 2011, 61% of companies participating in these trade missions were related to food and beverage items. This year will be the same. The first trade fair will be held on February 15in in Germany and will focus on organic products", reported the online version of La Prensa Grafica, citing information from the Investment Promotion Agency of El Salvador (PROESA).

Salvadoran Trade Mission in Colombia

Central America gears up for Canton Fair, Asia's top trade event

Business leaders from all over Central America are preparing to take part in the Canton Fair, Asia's leading trade event.

Some 70 to 80 Central American companies are expected to visit the fair, which begins mid-October, according to María Vargas, of the Costa Rica Chamber of Foreign Trade (Crecex). The sectors to be represented include construction, furniture, textiles, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals and electronics.

Chilean Trade Mission to Visit Costa Rica

Twenty Chilean businessmen will conduct business meetings with their Costa Rican peers looking for commercial alliances.

The rounds of negotiations will involve producers of fresh fruit, processed food, paper, wood, skin care products, engineering and information technology among others.
