Tender for Hydroelectric Project Feasibility Study

The Nicaraguan Electricity Company has put out to tender a feasibility study, final design and tender documents for the ‘La Verbena’ Hydroelectric Project .

According to the specifications, the overall objective of the tender is to hire specialized technical consulting services to prepare a feasibility study, detailed construction design, construction plans, specifications and tender documents for building the Central Mini Hydroelectric plant (MCH ) La Verbena, located in the middle basin of a branch of the river Upa in the Municipality of San Ramón in the Department of Matagalpa.

The Verbena site is located in the municipality of San Ramón in the Department of Matagalpa about 150 km. From the city of Managua. In 2005, the National Energy Commission (CNE) developed a pre-feasibility study which shows that there is potential for the siting of a hydroelectric generation project

With the construction of this project, the Nicaraguan Electricity Company intends to use the UPA river's water resources for hydropower that will be injected into the National Interconnected System (SIN in Spanish) and strengthen the electrical system of this area, improving the electricity supply.

Tender for Biogas Plant Feasibility Study

November 2011

In El Salvador, the Lempa River’s Executive Hydroelectricity Committee has announced a tender for a feasibility study to identify alternatives for the location of the project.

The study will include the identification of alternatives for the project location, quantification and characterization of wastewater and organic solid waste, identification of alternative technologies for the potential production of biogas and electricity in at least four strategic points in the basin, estimation of the investments required and analysis of the project’s economic, environmental and social benefits.
