The manager of Tocumen, SA (administrator of the international airport), Juan Carlos Pino, said that the tender for the South Terminal at Tocumen International Airport, Panama will be released in March, and the works are expected to cost $400 million.
The structure will be 50 thousand square meters big and will have 30 gates, reported Prensa.com.
The President (of Panama), Ricardo Martinelli said, that funds from Tocumen itself will be used to pay for the new extension. "The funds obtained from the award concessions for duty free free shops will be used for the south terminal building", said Martinelli.
Tocumen SA also has scheduled for this year the tender for the building of ‘airport city’.

The company Foster and Partners is interested in participating in work on the new terminal on the south side of Tocumen International Airport.

According to the specifications the tender is for the Study, Design and Construction of the North Side extension, Terminal Building,Tocumen International Airport.
The approval meeting is scheduled for 21 September 2011 in the Training Salon at Tocumen International Airport, third level.
