The Executive Committee of the Lempa River Hydroelectric is promoting Public Tender No. CEL CPCCCP PP 09 09 / 0909/12 / / 12 1212, for consulting and supervision services related to the expansion of the Central Hydroelectric station 5 Noviembre, to be done through the Co-qualification mode.
The Hydroelectric Expansion Project 5 Noviembre aims to increase the installed capacity by 80 MW in the power stations, with two units of 40 MW each. The idea is to increase electricity production with the water surplus generated by the rainy season, currently unused due to lack of capacity.
This project will be located within land owned by the CEL, in the canton Potrerillos, municipality Nombre de Jesus, Chalatenango, located between parallels 319.118 and 318.718 North and between the meridians 525.900 and 526.700 East.

With a $ 36 million investment, Salvadoran authorities announced the start of expansion works at the dam.
The Hydroelectric Executive Commission of the Lempa River (CEL) stated that production capacity will increase by 80 MW.
“CEL explained that this expansion will be funded from two loans plus equity. The project will be tendered next May and it is expected to be completed in 2014," published Elsalvador.com.

The Executive Hydroelectric Commission of the Lempa River (CEL) will make an award this week for the expansion of the ‘5 Noviembre’ dam, a project that represents $165.5 million in investment.
The investment will be financed by the CABEI, which is providing $57.5 million, Germany's state financing agency, with $57.5 million, the European Union will contribute $ 7.5 million through the Regional Forum Facility investment in Latin America (LAIF) and the CEL will provide $43 million.

The Río Lempa Hydroelectric Executive Committee (CEL) is currently reviewing the feasibility study and it expects to complete this stage in June or July of this year. The tender for the project would be for 2010. They believe that the expansion work will take 3 years and cost $150 million.
