"In the activity, generators submit bids for tolls to pass their energy along this line," said general manager Fernando Marciscano from the electricity transmission company ETESA.

The two governments have formed a binational company, Electric Interconnection Colombia - Panama SA (ICP), composed of ISA (Colombia) and ETESA (Panama), both with a 50% stake, to manage the affairs of the interconnection.

Among other things, "it is expected to have the capacity to respond in times of difficulty, such as in the summer (drought) and to move some technologies based on fossil fuels like diesel and bunker fuel and in this way help obtain reasonable prices said Marciscano", according to an article on the .panamaamerica.com.pa.
