A growing interest in Costa Ricans for more sports practice has driven the market for specialty stores.

Sports like golf, horse riding, tennis, athletics, triathlons and cycling already have specialist stores for these activities.

Responding to the rise in sports, a new store in Barrio La California has been opened called TriSport, which specializes in items for triathlons.

The owner, Miguel Jara told the newspaper La Nacion that "... opening the store is a response to the growing interest in this discipline by Costa Ricans ... five years ago, the country had about 100 triathletes, and now there are 500 .

The number of such activities has also increased, going from five a year to between 18 and 20. "
