The New Salvadoran Economic Team

Economist Alexander Segovia will be technical secretary to the presidency, legislator Héctor Dada Hirezi will be Minister of the Economy, economist Carlos Cáceres will be Finance Minister and economist Carlos Acevedo will be president of the Central Bank. Legislator Gerson Martínez will head Public Works and economist Manuel Sevilla will be Minister of Agriculture. In addition, electrical engineer German Rosa Chávez will be Minister of Environment and Natural Resources.

Daniel González Choto wrote in his article in Elfinancierocr.com: "In the eyes of some representatives of various productive sectors of the country, most of the newly appointed heads of the new economic cabinet are all professionals with a recognized academic trajectory, who will know how to lead the country’s economic activity."

El Salvador: Negotiations for Compensating Exporters

The government is trying to compensate exporters for the loss of the 6% tax incentive dubbed 'drawback'.

Silvia Cuéllar, Coexport director, sees the loss of the incentive as "losing competitiveness".

Alexander Segovia, from the presidency, heads the negotiation with the private sector, together with Economy Minister Héctor Dada.
