Tobacco Tour in Nicaragua

Nicaragua's Institute for Tourism (Intur), in its search for ways to broaden the country's appeal, is looking into the idea of creating a "Tobacco Route" in the north of the country, around Estelí, on the basis that for a select group of visitors to Nicaragua, tobacco is considered a delicacy.

According to Estelí mayor, Francisco Valenzuela, the concept is that tourists would see the Havana cigar production process from start to finish, including its industrial stages, in a similar way to the coffee tours that exist, and highlighting the highly skilled nature of the work that goes into producing a Nicaraguan cigar, reports El Nuevo Diario.
