Tourism SMEs Receive Training in El Salvador

Over 150 Small and Medium companies from the tourism industry will be trained in business and marketing topics.

The project is called "PYMETUR - Strengthening Tourism Competitiveness in El Salvador", and will create four Tourism Business Centers in different areas of the country. These centers will provide support for SMEs.

"Additionally, FUSADES has signed an agreement with the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, to organize a workshop on how to successfully participate in fairs and business rounds, that will take place November 18, 20, 25 and 27", reported Laprensagrafica.com.

$3.6 Million for Nicaraguan Tourism SMEs

Some 500 micro, small and medium enterprises from the tourism area will be trained on business management over the next three years.

The program is called Tourism Development in South West Nicaragua, and is funded by the Dutch government and the "Centro Empresarial Pellas" Foundation. 500 SMEs will be chosen to participate, among hotels, restaurants, food suppliers, tour operators and agricultural tourism.

Generally, it is hotels with less than 40 rooms, which don’t depend on large flows of tourists, that are less seriously affected by the crisis in regards to securing a good clientele with occupancy levels above 80%.

Investment Opportunities for Salvadoran MSMEs

Through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), $85 million have been allocated to promote investment in northern El Salvador.

The funds will finance MSMEs interested in developing projects that generate employment in various areas such as agriculture, catering and handicrafts.
