Two Phones Per Person In Panama

The rapid development of mobile telephony continues in Panama, where 7.2 million active mobile lines are registered.

The Public Service Authority (ASEP) reports that there were 7.2 million active cell phones lines in December 2011, an increase of 634,742 lines compared to December 2010, when 6.6 million active mobile phones were recorded.

To get an idea of the formidable advance of mobile telephony, the number of subscribers registered in 2005 reached 1.7 million. Seven years later, it has grown to 5.5 million

Statistically, this indicates that each person in Panama has two devices.

Panama Invites Bids For Number Portability

On April 14 Panama will receive bids from companies interested in implementing number portability in the country.

According to the schedule by the National Public Services Authority, this service must be operative before 2011.
