Wind Energy Project Financing Deal Completed

Blue Power has signed a financing agreement for $80 million with Bicsa bank, for the completion of the project in Nicaragua.

Once completed, the Blue Power & Energy wind generation farm will be able to generate 39.6 megawatts of clean energy, which corresponds to annual savings of $22 million for the country, according to Emilio Rapaccioli, the energy minister.

Joaquin Cuadra, director of Blue Power, explained that the project is under development and that to date "they have built the foundation for the installation of three wind turbines and eight miles of access roads."

In total, the farm will require an investment of $115.8 million and will include 22 Vesta wind turbines. According to an article in Laprensa.com.ni, "the company Blue Power recently signed sales contracts with the power distributor Gas Natural" at a cost of $104.5 per megawatt produced, with an annual 3% increase.

$159 Million for Wind Farm in Honduras

The US Ex-Im Bank has approved a $159 million loan to the Honduran wind power company, Energía Eólica de Honduras S.A., to purchase 51 2MW turbines.

The 51 Gamesa G-87 wind energy turbines are for the Cerro de Hula project that seeks to provide 102MW of renewable clean energy.

Nicaragua: $ 50 Million Loan for Wind Energy

March 2011

The Inter-American Investment Corporation approved a loan to Blue Power & Energy for development of the La Fe-San Martín wind farm.

The loan proceeds will enable BPE construction, commissioning and operation of 22 V90 Vestas generators of 1.8 MW each in Rivas, southwest Nicaragua. The wind park is expected to generate 138 GWh of electricity a year, contributing to an increase of over 5% of the country´s electricity consumption.
