In the communities of Toabré and Anton, the company Fersa Panama has started work on the two projects that will generate 330 megawatts of energy.
The other three projects are being developed by the Spanish company Unión Eólica de Panamá, which obtained authorization for 120 megawatts back on November 30th.
Fernando Vargas, head of the Environmental Management Unit at the National Authority of Public Services (ASEP) noted, "... the other 17 projects planned to be established in the country have existing applications, and are currently measuring wind factors to gauge the energy generation potential of the areas where they plan to build the farms.
He said that the Government is considering whether or not to invest in a wind farm, also in Penonomé, in order to 'break the ice' and attract more investors. He said that is nothing has been confirmed and that it is only an idea being studied", reported Prensa.com.
