The resources will be channeled over the next four years through the "Purchase for Progress" program, which seeks to improve access to markets for Salvadoran, Nicaraguan and Guatemalan farmers.

$ 10 Million for Nicaraguan Agriculture

Under a program to fight hunger, the U.S. Government approved $ 10 million for the country.

The program, called Feeding the Future, “will continue to support small farmers and businesses in Nicaragua to improve productivity and expand the market and trade", stated U.S. Ambassador Robert Callahan, at the presentation act.

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization reported that it will support the increase in agricultural production by poor families in more than 20 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, by providing better access to basic goods.

Provided by the International Agricultural Development (IADF), the funds are earmarked for small farmers from the country’s south.

Jacobo Regalado, Agriculture Ministry, explained that the money is aimed to assist small farmers from Choluteca, Valle and El Paraíso, who may also receive the resources as micro-loans.
