The Venezuelan bank’s participation in the Costa Rican market will be marked by flexibility and adaptability to local characteristics.
Representatives from local banks, in the face of entry of a new competitor, agreed that this will stimulate the segment of medium-sized banks.
Strengths of the new institution are reported to be their knowledge of the Latin American market and experience in micro and small enterprises.

Banesco was authorized by the Panamanian Banking Superintendence to open a branch in Dominican Republic.
From yesterday’s official government newspaper:
“BANESCO is authorized to open a branch in Dominican Republic.
This authorization has no relation with Banesco’s compliance with any rules and regulations in place in Dominican Republic, which the company will have to comply with”.

El Salvador received nautical charts covering the port and its surroundings, which will be certified by the National Registry.
These charts were supplied by the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency of the United States. Once they are certified by the Registry they will be distributed internationally.

The Mexican Zeta Gas Company, an importer and exporter of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), will invest about $6 million in the operation.
Fredis Cerrato, Honduran Industry and Trade Secretary, reported to latribuna.hn that the company will operate throughout the country and that "it will start with a fleet of 100 trucks, creating 250 direct and 1,500 indirect jobs."

President Manuel Zelaya has announced that Honduras' fifth international airport, at Palmerola, will start operations on August 2, when the United States will close down its military operations there.
The president said that in two weeks he will sign an agreement with the United States based on an agreement dating back to May 1957, that established the military support that Washington has provided for 51 years.

Venezuelan bank Banesco is setting up a regional headquarters in Panama next year for an expansion project in Central America and the Caribbean.
Costa Rica, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic are the first countries that Banesco executives have set their sights on. Ricardo Ayala, chairman of the bank's board, emphasized that Banesco would finance the expansion from its own resources.
