The Superior Council of the Private Enterprise is questioning the supposed "benefits" and "efficiency" of the oil agreement signed with Venezuela.
Mario Amador, president of the Chamber of Industries of Nicaragua (Cadin), said the country has been buying oil at $120 and $130 a barrel when the price on the international market was slightly over $80. These prices are not benefiting the consumer.

Central American businessmen agreed to adjudicate the meat quota assigned by the European Union to the country that first complies with the required food safety and traceability requirements.
The region had to decide how to distribute a quota of 9.500 yearly tons of meat that can be shipped to Europe without paying tariffs.

This commercial alliance aims to assist Nicaraguan small and medium industrial companies.
Signed between NACC (American Nicaraguan Chamber of Commerce) and CADIN (Nicaraguan Chamber of Industries), the alliance looks to foster and promote bilateral trade.
Alfonso Oviedo, NACC president, commented that "the alliance will strengthen trade and exporting mechanisms for SMEs. We are working on opening markets in the U.S. and advising them on exporting requirements".

Nicaraguan businessmen are requesting the negotiation of a FTA, in order to sell their products directly.
Exports from Nicaragua to Venezuela jumped from $11.5 million in 2008 to $90 million in 2009. They are channeled through company Albanisa, and the leading category is livestock.
