The multinational said it will move call center services in Mexico to Guatemala.
The new center will serve the markets of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and now Mexico.

Convergys, an American company specializing in the service area, opened its third center in the country.
With over 35 thousand square feet, modern facilities at Park Ultra II, will allow the company to add 500 people to its payroll, amounting to 1600 employees in the country and thereby becoming one of the top ten employers in the services area, according to data from CINDE.

Sykes, a call center company, has bought ICT group in a move that increases its Costa Rican operation from 2,800 employees to 3,200.
The merger process between the multinational companies began back in February this year and sees Sykes add an additional 20,000 people to its worldwide workforce.

The recruitment company needs 1,200 people with fluent English to work in customer service positions in a Costa Rican call center.
"We are pleased with the positive signs shown by our market for creating new jobs", commented Julio Méndez, head of Manpower Costa Rica. He was explaining that the 1,200 new posts strengthen the trend indicated in the third quarter results of its survey of employment expectations. According to the results, 24% of Costa Rican businesses are optimistic about their plans to hire more staff in the coming months.

While at least seven call centers have ceased operations in the country, others are being opened as multinational companies move in to install regional headquarters.
The balance, however, is negative. By the end of 2009, there were 1,000 less jobs in the call center industry than in its golden age, 2006.
