Permanent residency has been granted to Argentineans, Brazilians, Uruguayans, Chileans, Spanish, and nationals of other countries friendly to Panama.
Executive Decree No. 343 of May 16, 2012, creates a new Permanent Resident Immigration Category and subcategory Permanent Resident Foreign National for specific countries with which there are relations that are friendly, professional, economic and relating to investment in Panama.

The Executive has given approval for the Public Registry of Panama to be the certification authority for electronic signatures in the Republic of Panama.

The Ministry of Finance in Guatemala has signed agreements to exchange tax information with Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
These agreements are aimed at facilitating the exchange of information in order to better control the fiscal responsibilities of individuals and companies in Guatemala and those countries.

In Costa Rica, the current mechanism mainly benefits 30 large producers, who received $80 million in subsidies in 2011.
Despite warnings from the WTO, Costa Rica continues to subsidize rice production, a benefit which actually goes to about 30 large companies, rather than groups of small producers, and is "an unnecessary risk" according to the former Foreign Trade Minister Alberto Trejos, who added that "it is like going to the Country Club in Escazú to hand out Family Allowance resources."

The IMF has temporarily suspended the availability of emergency funds for El Salvador because it has not met agreed targets, having exceeded government spending.
The IMF reported that the Salvadoran government may not use a precautionary loan (SBA) of $750 million, said Carlos Acevedo, president of Banco Central de Reserva (BCR).
