Next May the U.S. chain will open its first store in San Jose, Costa Rica.
The announcement was made via a press release from the Pan American Coffee Corporation, a company that promotes Salvadoran coffee shops across the Isthmus.
Nacion.com reported quoted Manuela Velasquez, Starbucks marketing manager for Central America: "Our main goal is to bring the Starbucks experience to Costa Ricans. Spending a pleasant morning or afternoon, having a meeting for study or work around a delicious cup of coffee, tea and other products. "

The Guatemalan chain has announced its expansion plans for 2012, with the opening of eight new stores in Guatemala and their foray into the Salvadoran market.
Walter de la Cruz, general manager of the chain said the projected investment is $1.4 million.
"By 2012 the firm's goal is to have 32 stores nationwide, and also activate international expansion, so the second half of the year could see the opening of its first store in El Salvador", published Siglo21.com.gt.

The chain has announced the opening of its fourth store in the Salvadoran capital, in the Multiplaza Mall.
With a total of 192 square meters, the new facility will have capacity to serve more than one hundred people.

With an investment of $3 million the Carl's Jr. chain has opened its first three restaurants in San Jose.
The franchise management company, Gold Star Burgers SA, indicated on the occasion of the inauguration of its first location in the heart of the capital, that in the coming weeks they will open two new branches in malls, Mall San Pedro and Plaza Real Cariari.

The Panamanian Ministry of Public Works is the driving force behind the "seawall resort" project, which will form part of the third phase of the coastal strip development.
The development will cover an area of some 6.86 hectares, and will include a circular two-story restaurant (which will be run as a concession), a cobbled square, sports courts, a bicycle path and parking areas.

In 2009 $25.7 million was paid for franchising licenses and international licenses, increasing to $30.4 in 2010.
The results of a study conducted by the Central Bank, the Ministry of Industry and the Tourism Institute, indicate that from January to June 2011, companies paid $15.2 million by way of franchises and the figure for the end of the year is expected to be $32 million.

In a ceremonial event held in Bogota, Procafecol S.A. and the company 'JV Panama S.A'., signed an agreement granting the first international franchise for Juan Valdez ® coffee, giving free rein to develop the brand in Panama and Aruba.

The fast food chain Dairy Queen has announced it will open 15 stores in Guatemala.
In a press release, the company stated it has signed a franchise agreement with Grupo Buen Rollo, to open 15 stores by 2015.
According to plans, the first restaurant will be opened in Guatemala City in October 2011.

With the participation of 222 stands, and more than 6,000 products, the ‘Feria Alimentaria’ (Food Fair) 2011 will be taking place in Guatemala until 27 July.
Salvador Contreras, president of the fair’s organizing committee, said they expect some 12 thousand people to visit the event, which is being held at the Hotel Tikal Futura.
