Experts from the World Customs Organization (WCO) will gather today, December 9, in Panama to discuss counterfeiting and piracy.
In the meeting, in which twelve countries of the region are participating, new routes identified for the transit of counterfeit goods and new methods used to counterfeit products will be publicised.

With an emphasis on multimodaling and logistics, the port community on the continent will meet in Antigua, a city declared Historical Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO, between 9 and April 12, 2012, where authorities and executives of international port terminals, business sector providers, will gather to participate in the meeting organized by the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) and the National port Commission (NPC) in Guatemala convening under the theme: "Present and Future of American Ports in the Era of Multimodality and Logistics. The TOC Container Supply Chain Americas conference will be held November 15-17 at the El Panama hotel, Panama City.
With the theme of "Redefining the logistics scene in the region," the three-day conference will seek to discover a source of revenue for the much-needed infrastructure improvements throughout the region, to understand the connectivity of land transport networks, and to develop strategies for coping with continuing increases in the volume and size of ships.

This year El Salvador will attend the OAS’s Inter-American Congress. The main theme is to develop business competitiveness as a tool for tourism development.

The XIX Inter-American Travel Congress to be held in San Salvador, El Salvador, on 29 and 30 September, 2011 will focus on the following theme "Tourism, a challenge to poverty." Authorities from the hemisphere will discuss methods of preventing money laundering in financial institutions.
Experts from Costa Rica, the United States, Colombia and other Latin American countries are participating in the congress organized by the Banking Association and the Commission for the Prevention of Money Laundering, which will run until Friday.

The Panama Canal Administrator Alberto Zubieta German, has announced that the First World Congress on Engineering and Infrastructure will take place in Panama from 18 to 20 April 2012.
The event will be attended by experts from 10 countries who will speak on international trends in the sector.

Representatives from the government have submitted a proposal to promote improved profitability for the sector.
In order to promote the idea the National Hospitality Congress will be held on 4 and 5 August.
Among the topics to be discussed are, labor flexibility, excessive paperwork for new tourism projects, tips and infrastructure problems.
Gustavo Araya, a member of the board of the Costa Rican Chamber of Hotels (CCH) commented on the extensive paperwork saying, "... this is what affects us most because an investor currently has to go through 1950 steps in 51 public institutions.
